Viral Expression Carrier: Transmissive Organic Remnant

The dead do not stay dead.

What a Vector Is

A V.E.C.T.O.R is a human body overtaken by H.E.L.I.X-derived viral expression that remains mobile, infectious, aggressive, and biologically active after normal human survivability has failed.

A V.E.C.T.O.R is not only a sick human. It is a carrier. A transmitter. A biological weapon. A battlefield threat. A living remnant of failed enhancement science.

The public says infected. Old reports say undead. Scientists say V.E.C.T.O.R. Operators say Vector. C.I.P.H.E.R. says subject, product, asset, or expression stage.

H.E.L.I.X created the architecture. C.I.P.H.E.R weaponized the expression. S.O.U.R.C.E named the battlefield result.

Classification

S.O.U.R.C.E doctrine sorts the threat into six types. Operators gave most of them shorter names. The number tells an operator how bad the night is about to get. The name tells them what it will look like when it comes.

Type 1

“Walkers” — Slow infected

Degraded, unstable, easy to underestimate. In numbers, they are a wall that walks. Walkers do not climb. They do not need to. They wait, they follow sound, and they never get tired of either.

Type 2

“Ghouls” — Aggressive runners

Fast, violent, and commonly responsible for containment breaches. Ghouls are the climbers: stair rails, pipe brackets, cargo frames, ceiling voids. Anything with a seam becomes a ladder. Dangerous because a single missed corridor becomes contact before a team can reset formation.

Type 3

“Brutes” and “Bloaters” — Armored mutation

Dense tissue growth, abnormal bone reinforcement, trauma-resistant adaptation. Two names, one family — the strain rebuilds the body in different directions, and none of them are improvements you want in the same room. Still human-scale, which is worse: it fits through the same doors you do. Dangerous because ordinary shot placement may fail under pressure.

Type 4

“Witches” — Retained cognition subjects

Partial memory. Limited problem-solving. Learned behavior. Route memory. Operators do not use the name lightly. Dangerous because some part of the person may still be present — or worse, the infection learned from what remained.

Type 5

H.E.L.I.X. control subjects

Orange light behind the eyes. Surgical hardware under the skin. A higher-value threat linked directly to C.I.P.H.E.R experimentation and command-response work. Dangerous because Type 5 means C.I.P.H.E.R may be nearby.

Type 6

Unknown strain deviation

Anything outside known classification. When a Type 6 is reported, Research Division becomes aggressive, Control Division tightens the perimeter, and Operations Division assumes the mission is no longer routine.

Type 6 is the category for fear. Not panic. Fear. The kind that keeps operators alive.

Why No Two Zones Are the Same

By 2056, H.E.L.I.X is not one strain. It is a family of unstable expressions, mutations, and derived variants. Some emphasize regeneration. Some aggression. Some speed. Some retained cognition. Some environmental survival. Some are failed experiments. Some are C.I.P.H.E.R field variants. Some are natural Biozone mutations.

Every V.E.C.T.O.R type traces back to a different H.E.L.I.X expression family. Nothing in the dark is random.

The Horde

A horde is not a crowd. A crowd can be counted, redirected, delayed, split, or burned. A horde is mass plus movement plus pressure — bodies compressing into alleys, stairwells, tunnels, and hospital wings until the environment itself becomes part of the attack.

Against a horde, the objective changes. You do not win by killing everything in front of you. You win by closing the correct door before the wrong one opens. You win by controlling sound. You win by accepting that some parts of the map are no longer yours.

A magazine has a number. A corridor has a width. A human mind has a breaking point. The horde tests all of them.

Field Doctrine

VECTORS hunt by sound. Noise discipline is survival. The loudest thing in a Biozone dies first.

And the doctrine on putting them down never changes: the body can be broken, burned, and shredded, and still keep coming.

Destroy the head. Confirm the kill. Move.

S.O.U.R.C.E does not win by surviving the night.
S.O.U.R.C.E wins when the zone is silent.
